A new running shoe made by the makers of Brooks Running Shoes is set to be the first to feature a safety-net system designed to protect runners from the risks of a collision with an oncoming car.
The company’s latest shoe, called Blitzcranks, was unveiled Friday at the 2016 Toronto Auto Show.
The company says the shoes are designed to stop people from falling into oncoming traffic on busy roads.
“We’ve been working closely with our safety partners and have developed an innovative safety net design that we hope will help reduce serious injuries and deaths,” said Mike Blanchard, president of the company.
“This innovative safety-protective system is built around our unique blend of a cushioning mesh and a cushion, to keep people’s feet on the ground and to keep them protected from any impact.”
The company says Blitzcrank shoes offer a new type of protection, and will be offered in all sizes.
They will be available starting in the fall for $299.99.
“The Blitzcrats safety net is designed to keep the feet on and the wheels off, and to allow people to walk, run, and climb safely in traffic,” said Blanchards chief product officer, Scott Haggerty.
“They also offer additional cushioning in the back to help keep the foot on the road for more of a safe ride.”
Blitzcrats cushioning system is made from a blend of high-density foam, polyester, and a thick layer of Kevlar.
It is designed for oncoming collisions and for preventing any further injury.
Blitz Cranks cushioning systems come in five sizes, ranging from 0.75 to 1.2 mm in width, and come in both black and white.
It comes in a range of price points, ranging $149 to $299, with each price depending on the size of cushioning they have.
The safety net has a built-in seat belt, which will stop the feet from slipping off the foot pad when a car passes by, as well as a large cushioning plate.
The cushioning is made of a thin layer of foam, which can absorb impact and cushion a person’s feet in a collision.
“If a car is approaching and the driver is not paying attention to the road, the airbag will deploy and the impact will send a shock wave through the seat and the cushioning will deflect the impact,” said Haggerts.
Blanchards safety net will be the largest on the market.
“When you’re wearing the Blitzcrat you’re taking some of the worst of the road traffic, but you’re still in the lane,” said Mr. Blanchar.
The Blitz Crats safety nets come in black and red, with grey and orange versions coming in the coming months.
The new safety net was introduced as part of the blitzcrats strategy to help reduce injury and deaths caused by oncoming drivers.
The latest edition of Blitzcrattes shoes was released last week, and the company said the company will begin offering Blitzcrans to consumers on Oct. 1.
“Blitz’s Blitzcracks are the safest and most versatile shoes on the planet, and they’re the best choice for people who want to wear them everywhere,” said Rob Blanch, Blitzcrash’s CEO.
Blanks Blitzcrates shoes are available now in the U.S. and in select European countries.
