article The Guinness World Records is currently held by a running record of 2:07:17 by Michael Keating, and according to Guinness, the longest cannonball running in the world is now set: “Michael Keating’s record was set in a cannon ball run at the end of the 2012 Olympics in London.
Keating ran the distance of 2,07:13 in an indoor track and field competition at the Royal Olympic Park in London.”
According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the record for a cannon balls cannonball was set by a runner from the United States in 2015 at 2:09:13.
However, the Guinness spokesperson told Mashable that the Guinness record for cannonballs ran in a 24-hour period in a single day was not broken until June 5, 2018, when the record holder ran a total of 9:54:05.
“The Guinness Book records are set by athletes and the event itself is known as a cannon run,” said Guinness spokesperson, Jana Smith.
“These events are usually run by professional athletes from all over the world.
There are always some athletes competing who have not had their own experience with cannonballs.”
According the Guinness website, cannonball runs are usually timed and there are typically four to six participants in the cannonball race.
“Each cannonball event is a unique experience and we try to ensure that every participant has the experience and knowledge needed to achieve a safe, successful cannonball record,” the spokesperson said.
The Guinness spokesperson said that in 2016, the cannonballs world record holder was runner Michael Keats, a runner who has been a part of the cannon ball community for more than 20 years.
The running world record was originally set by the United Kingdom’s Mark Renton in 1981, with his record time of 1:26:14 set in 1992.
“It is not unusual for cannonball runners to get away with longer cannonball records, and some runners have been able to run some of the longest ever recorded in cannonball history,” the Guinness representative told Mashability.
“However, it’s not always possible to be certain that the actual distance is correct, and we would encourage you to run your own accurate cannonball count if you have the time and experience to do so.”
